Good morning, Sarah
Day 1 โ A fresh cycle begins
Your period has arrived, and with it, a brand new cycle. Estrogen and progesterone have dropped to their lowest point, signaling your uterine lining to shed. You might feel crampy, tired, or a little emotional โ all of that is normal and valid.
Today's wellness tips
๐ฅ Nutrition: Focus on iron-rich foods today: spinach, lentils, red meat, or fortified cereals. Pair with vitamin C (citrus, bell peppers) to boost absorption. Your body is losing iron through bleeding, so replenishing matters.
๐โโ๏ธ Movement: Gentle movement only. A 20-minute walk, restorative yoga, or light stretching will ease cramps better than lying still, but skip the HIIT class. Your energy is naturally at its lowest.
โจ Skin: Hormonal dip means your skin may look dull or feel dry. Use a hydrating serum (hyaluronic acid) and skip harsh actives like retinol for a few days.
๐ด Sleep: Prostaglandins that cause cramps can also disrupt sleep. Try a warm bath before bed, and sleep with a heating pad on your lower abdomen.
๐ Emotional: Day 1 can bring relief (the waiting is over) or sadness (especially if TTC). Both are valid. This is a day for self-compassion, not productivity goals.
๐ถ TTC: If you were trying this cycle and your period arrived, let yourself feel whatever you feel. One cycle does not define your journey. Talk to your partner โ they need to process too.
